ISCPh Position Statement on the Essential Role of Pharmacists in Medical Cannabis Care
ISCPh has released its official position statement highlighting the essential role pharmacists play in advancing safe, effective, and evidence-informed medical cannabis care.
The statement outlines the pharmacist’s contributions to medication safety, individualized product selection, dosing and titration, medication reconciliation, drug interaction management, therapeutic monitoring, and comprehensive medication management for patients using cannabinoid-based therapies.
An expanded scientific manuscript based on this position statement has been completed and will be submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. In the meantime, a concise version of the position statement is available on the ISCPh website.
