January 23-34, 2019 in Portland, Oregon

CCC 2019 was an eclectic melting pot of industry leaders, movers, and shakers. Topics ranged from marketing strategies to solutions for navigating the choppy legal waters following the FARM bill.

Our members, Melani Kane and Victoria Star were invited to share their perspective on dosing cannabis in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.

Victoria Starr presenting at the 2019 Cannabis Collaborative Conference

We began our final day at the Leaf Ladies brunch networking with powerful women in cannabis. It was awe-inspiring to see women representing every role in the cannabis space, including budtenders, nurses, physicians, and attorneys. No matter our role, we were all patient advocates and appreciated the healing powers of cannabis.

One of Melani’s favorite presentations was by Rachel Knox, MD with the American Cannabinoid Clinics. Her presentation titled “Intoxication”, “Homeostasis”, and the Therapeutic Impact of Cannabis”.

A deeper understanding of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) is necessary if you seek to supplement with phytocannabinoids.

Dr. Knox described endocannabinoid dysfunction (underlying deficiencies or overstimulation of the ECS) as an explanation for certain medical conditions like inflammatory bowel and fibromyalgia.

Victoria’s favorite presentation was Cannabis and Athletes with Antonio DeRose, Nathan Quarry, and Anna Symonds. There is an urgent need for more research in the fields of TBI and other sports-related injuries, and cannabis can be a helpful medical tool.

CCC 2019 was full of innovative exhibitors and patient-eccentric manufacturers. This is definitely a cannabis conference you will want to attend in the future.
